Modeling Mackerel Tuna (Euthynnus affinis) Habitat in Southern Coast of Java: Influence of Seasonal Upwelling and Negative IOD

چکیده
We used fishery catch data from Cilacap Fishing Port and Copernicus set in July 2016-December 2017 to investigate the impacts of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on upwelling mackerel tuna distribution southern coast Java. This study implemented a Generalized Additive Model (GAM) for habitat prediction waters. The present showed that extreme negative IOD 2016 caused weaker southeasterly wind even reversal northwesterly wind, as seen off Sumatra September 2016. situation produced vertically mixed layer thickening no during southeast monsoon event 2016, consequently resulted warmer temperature fewer Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) compared 2017. production significantly dropped rose 2017, particularly event. high Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) was found Central Java expanded bigger August decreased During HSI covered only less area region disappeared indicates oceanographic factor is consistent with probability tuna.

Swimming kinematics of juvenile kawakawa tuna (Euthynnus affinis) and chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus).
The swimming kinematics of two active pelagic fishes from the family Scombridae were compared to test the hypothesis that the kawakawa tuna (Euthynnus affinis) uses the thunniform mode of locomotion, in which the body is held more rigid and undergoes less lateral movement in comparison with the chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus), which uses the carangiform swimming mode. This study, the first qu...
متن کاملMaximum sustainable speeds and cost of swimming in juvenile kawakawa tuna (Euthynnus affinis) and chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus).
Tunas (Scombridae) have been assumed to be among the fastest and most efficient swimmers because they elevate the temperature of the slow-twitch, aerobic locomotor muscle above the ambient water temperature (endothermy) and because of their streamlined body shape and use of the thunniform locomotor mode. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that juvenile tunas swim both faster a...

The chemical composition variations of the Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) from Karachi coast were investigated seasonally over the period of one year (2004-2005). Moisture, crude protein, fat and ash contents varied from 70.11-74.41%, 16.02- 20.09%, 3.0-12%, and 0.89-1.35% respectively. The seasonal data indicated that the main fatty acids of the total lipid were C16:0, C16:1, C18:0,...

متن کاملInfluence of Coastal Upwelling on SST Trends along the South Coast of Java
The south coast of Java has warmed at a much lower rate than adjacent ocean locations over the last three decades (1982-2015). This behavior can be observed during the upwelling season (July-October) and it is especially patent in August and September when upwelling attains the highest values. Although different warming rates (ocean-coast) had been previously observed in other areas around the ...
